Milaida,
was born from a lifelong love for African print textiles—fabrics celebrated across the continent for their rich textures, vibrant colors, and patterns that vary beautifully from country to country.
Growing up, I viewed African prints as something meant for older women. I believed dressing “age-appropriately” meant leaving these fabrics behind. Yet, as I grew older, I found myself increasingly drawn back to them. Their uniqueness, vibrancy, and cultural depth were impossible to ignore.
That realization sparked a deeper thought: how many young women felt the same way I once did? And what if African print fashion could speak to them too?
Milaida was created to reimagine African prints for a younger generation—pieces that are inclusive, modern, versatile, and made to last. Designs that honor tradition while fitting seamlessly into contemporary lifestyles.
The name Milaida is inspired by my daughter. As I searched for a name, I wanted something that would remind me of a young girl growing up already included in African fashion—long before she even understands what fashion is. Milaida represents that future: confident, connected to her roots, and free to express herself through style.
At Milaida, we celebrate African prints not just as fabric, but as heritage—reimagined for today and the generations to come.
To My Daughter
Dear Em,
I have big dreams for you and I hope that one day you will pick the batton and run with it even further. Love Mom💙
